MS offers peek through Windows 7
Microsoft has unveiled the latest version of its Windows operating system.
It promised that it will deliver a better experience for users when it arrives sometime late next year.
Windows 7 follows Vista, which Microsoft claims has been a success, but which has been subject to fierce criticism from a number of users.
The system was demonstrated at the company’s Professional Developers Conference in Los Angeles.
Senior vice-president Steven Sinofsky described it as an “exciting new version of Windows” and claimed it would deliver a more personalised experience.
eBay to ban negative seller views
I am not sure I like the sound of this – while I have received one unjustified unfavourable comment in my eBay feedback I still think ebay are making a mistake.
Online auction site eBay has said it plans to overhaul its feedback system and will ban sellers from leaving negative comments about buyers.
eBay said problems were occurring, and slowing down trade, when buyers left negative comments about sellers who then retaliated with their own views.
From May, those selling on eBay will not be able to leave unfavourable or neutral messages about buyers.
The move, which will affect users worldwide, has angered many sellers as they say it will leave them unprotected.
Critics of the changes argue that by taking away a seller’s right to complain about a problem buyer they will have very little recourse for action when a sale goes wrong. And they complain that by still allowing buyers to leave dissenting comments about sellers, eBay has skewed the whole trading process.
HTC TyTNII – tempted
This has everything, windows, qwerty, camera (3mg), GPS (inc Tom Tom taster!), wifi, bluetooth, business card scanner!, video, pic and video editing, excell, word, tri and quad band, but it weighs 160g – 30g more than my current Blackberry. Blackberry is great but I miss the camera, want phone to blog, and the browser is very elemmentary.

Blackberry
My phone packed up yesterday and I upgraded to a wifi Blackberry 8700f which seems very good. However, I have not been able to open an email account yet as the orange site seems to be down. However, as a phone and sms text messenger it is superb. When I was working in Docklands I was the only one in my coterie which did not have the ubiquitouse Blackberry. Veru useful to get email on the move especially when abroad. Pity about not opening and account yet as I wanted to reply to an email from Ceri "Replied from Colin Dowse’s Blackberry" as he was pissed off when I got the Tom Tom! Used the Tom Tom again in Sorrento and it was brilliant – I could have gone no map – and it spoke flawless Italian!
Is anybody out there?
My friend Tony complained that I was not posting very regularly while I have been working in the Big Smoke – but as I retorted to him – contribute to the blog by commenting on an individual piece or sending me interesting and or amusing stuff from around the world – message to all readers – all conributions gratefully accepted.
