Call a pig a pig
Peers can claim up to £174 for every night they spend away from their “main home” while attending Parliament.
A committee of the Lords has now ruled that peers are free to designate a property at which they spent only one night a month as their “main home”. The main home could be owned and lived in by someone else.
This is an attendance allowance so why not call it that and stop pussyfooting around.
