Seven pubs around the River

Severn loop in the town have pulled together to organise the event which will run from April 8 to 12.

Real Ale in the Loop, which will feature cask beers on tap when it returns to the town for the event that kicked off last year after Shrewsbury’s traditional beer festival was cancelled.

Organiser James Calder, licensee at Marston’s The Wheatsheaf in High Street, said: “We’ll have at least 70 beers on between us. Last year, the festival went down really well and we’ve already got a lot of different ales from around the country lined up.

“It will coincide with National Cask Ale week and all the pubs will have live music.” The Wheatsheaf will be hosting beers from Ringwood, Jennings and Wychwood as well as Marston’s favourites. The pub will also be serving its pub food – sourced from the farms surrounding Shrewsbury.

Other pubs taking part will be The Nag’s Head in Wyle Cop, The Loggerheads in Church Street, The Three Fishes in Hereford Road in Bayston Hill, The Salopian Bar in Smithfield Road, the Admiral Benbow, and The Coach and Horses, both in Swan Hill.
