This was started in 2003 under the name of salopblog.co.uk. Salop is the old name for Shropshire and Shrewsbury. The county was renamed in the 80′s as the word also means tart or slut in French. I should have bought the .com domain as well but this was snapped up in January 2009 and is now an appalling porn site. While Google still listed salopblog.co.uk top it was followed by this porn site so I changed the domain to Git News and I now control the .com and the .co.uk domains. This blog is hosted by 1simple and is powered by WordPress. Previously the blog was hosted by Typepad but the previous 1,200 posts have been imported here.
I live within the river Severn loop in the market town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England but travel as much as possible. My interests are politics and elections, art, design, architecture, film, books, gadgets, website design, music (very eclectic), travel…
My main claim to notoriety came in 2005 when Keith and I launched Sprayonmud which was picked up by news organisation all araound the world including the Guardian. We marketed the mud to Chelsea tractor ya hoo Henry’s who had four wheelers but never drove them in the countryside – this suburban camouflage allowed them to give the impression they had been ou huntin and shooten. We sold the mud all around the world and our first overseas order cam from Ipanima. We had agents in Germany, Norway, Sweden, US and Canada. It was fun while it lasted but the bottle manufacturers got greedy and would only sell me supplies in lots of 10,000 so we gave it up.
